Here are some of my favorite and most successful lessons and projects I have taught/guided! All are products of mine unless noted otherwise, although many were developed in cooperation with other teachers. Not all of the resources/lesson plans are available via this website.
Diversity Dilemma
Try to solve these problems with your other nations, and realize just how complex they are! Then, at the end, create a booth for the English-World Fair at Å s Ungdomsskole to teach students about your country.

Imperialism: The Not-So Game |
Hyperinflation Activity
I still believe this is one of my most successful and entertaining lessons I have ever attempted! Every single student was caught up in it, and was able to demonstrate what they learned afterwards. It's a great way to teach about basic economics and specifically hyperinflation in the Wiemar Republic as a result of the Treaty of Versailles.

16th Century Shark Tank![]() Shark Tank is a great show, there's no denying that. But we've decided to go a different direction. A better direction. Forget the products of the future... We want: the companies of the past.
Your task is to create a trading company or joint-stock company to establish a trading network or a colonial empire. You need to create a presentation (PowerPoint, Google Slides, website, etc.) containing all elements on the "Requirements" page of this site. There are extra credit opportunities available on the "Extensions" page, and the criteria on which you will be graded are on the "Rubric" page. Recruit for Revolution |
Law and Order: Europe![]() Were the absolute monarchs of Europe in the 16th and 17th centuries good or evil? You be the judge... And the jury, and the prosecution, and the defense!
You will learn about each of Europe's most powerful absolute monarchies (England, France, Spain, Russia, and Central Europe) at their peaks, and determine if the monarchies had positive or negative effects on Europe and the country they ruled. Be sure to find enough primary and secondary evidence to attack or defend your monarchs, and ready your arguments for trial! Woeful World Wars![]() Just like a menu, students pick one appetizer, one entree, one dessert, and a fourth project from any of the categories. Each group has a team leader and a project manager for each project, and each project is driven by an essential question chosen by the students.
Each project has its own directions, requirements, and how it will be graded. After each has been completed by my students, they will have a sample product as well. Students are encouraged to be creative and answer their questions thoroughly. |
